There is a fast-growing demand for local food in BC, providing small farms and small-scale food producers the opportunity to increase their market. This is where food hubs can provide the physical connections between small scale production and a larger market. The BC Food Hub Network aims to foster growth and innovation in the processing sector through improved industry access to facilities, equipment, technology, technical services, and business supports. It is a collaborative effort involving industry, communities, and post-secondary institutions to help B.C.’s food and beverage businesses grow, innovate and commercialize.
This spring, The Fraser Valley Artisans Food Hub will be opening its doors to serve all those in the Fraser Valley. They will have a shared-use food and beverage processing facility that will offer food and agriculture businesses access to commercial processing space, equipment, expertise, and resources to support business development and growth. They will have a mix of Entrepreneurial Training programs and Fee-for- Service offerings. Robert Fraser is the new Director of Sales and Grower Relations at the Fraser Valley Artisans Food Hub. He looks forward to helping small businesses facilitate access to the regional food economy. Robert Fraser has lived in the Fraser Valley for the past decade. Originally from Montreal, Robert’s deep connection to food and agriculture was harnessed throughout his childhood as he played in the fields of locally grown strawberries. Quebec has a distinct food culture that Robert has brought with him throughout his profession. Robert is an independent fruit broker, specializing in the soft fruit sector. Having sold millions of pounds of local commodities over the past 30 years, Robert understands the needs of growers, processors, and distributors. Robert’s expertise includes international trade, logistics, distribution, sales, and business development. He is excited at the opportunities this Food Hub will bring to the Fraser Valley in developing local agri-food businesses. If you are a farmer, processor, or an entrepreneur interested in utilizing this facility for your product or your business, make sure you visit their website. Services Include:
Fraser Valley Artisans Food Hub | 2570 Cyril Street, Abbotsford, BC | (604) 746-5682 | www. fraservalleyartisansfoodhub.com Conveniently located on beautiful Hatzic Lake, Camp Luther is a place where we share the love of God with all our campers while offering quality accommodation, excellent food, and the opportunity to develop long-lasting relationships!
The attraction of a summer camp for children, youth, and families can be trying new activities like archery, canoeing, or working on crafts. Summer camp is also about the memorable experience of singing songs down at the lake and the highlight of each day – gathering together for meals in the dining hall. For campers, every week is filled with great activities, but what we value most is the power of “simple”: the opportunity for kids, youth and families to experience some simple but incredibly important life lessons. Campers of all ages experience the power of simple through sharing with others, eating meals together with new friends, finding more joy in nature than in technology, and just having fun! This summer, we are planning to run overnight camps again! Along with our awesome day camp program, we are so excited to have campers back in our cabins in 2022! Just like every other summer before, we’ll have our amazing slide and waterfront, an intensely huge game of capture the flag, bunk ball battles, and crafty crafts in the Craft Shack! Get excited about tons of new activities as well! Before these epic activities, though, the interaction between the staff and our campers is what truly makes Camp Luther a place where campers experience real relationships and real love that follows them back home into real life. We have plenty of weeks of camp this summer for you to enjoy the Camp Luther experience: multiple junior camps and day camps (ages 7-12), Middle Camp (ages 10-13), Teen Camp (ages 14-18), and Family Camp! We hope you can join us this summer for an experience you won’t soon forget! Head to our website for any info you might need, including descriptions, dates, and rates for this summer’s camps, and all our contact information. Also, find us on Facebook and Instagram (@camp.luther)! |
