Featuring a world premier, a Canadian premier, a G7 first, an exciting adaptation of a novel, and a beloved Broadway musical, the season will mark the organization's 32nd year of continuous programming.
"We're very excited about the upcoming year of theatre," explains Artistic Director, Ken Hildebrandt. "Community is experienced in many ways: through social engagement & participation, through family, through friendship and through romantic love. Each play in our season touches on one of these important communal experiences, exploring its ups and downs in meaningful, entertaining and thought-provoking ways." The season line-up includes the following:
"Live theatre at Gallery 7 Theatre is about the community coming together to engage with stories that not only entertain, but stir the heart, challenge the mind and elevate the soul," concludes Hildebrandt. "This season is as much a showcase of compelling and impactful stories about community as it is a celebration of the important role theatre plays in our community. Come one, come all!" It’s that time of year, again, where the Mission Community Services Society look forward to assisting those who need a little extra help at Christmas.
Their Christmas Bureau – Wish Campaign makes a difference to low-income single adults, seniors and families who find it difficult to make ends meet, especially at this time of year. Mission Community Services Society, along with the members of our community, have been providing these vulnerable people and families with festive food hampers and toys at Christmas since 1972. Their objective is to raise $160,000 which will not only assist in providing Christmas hampers and toys, but also helps to operate our emergency Food Centre throughout the year. With the support from people such as yourself we can once again provide toys for over 726 kids, and over 587 Christmas food hampers to families and seniors in time for Christmas. Will you help us make a difference this year? There are three ways of contributing to the “Wish Campaign” over the coming weeks.
Nov 2nd – Dec 15th, 2023, at the Junction Shopping Centre Unit 141 - 32555 London Ave, Mission. *Tax receipt issued for donations over $25.00.

A cast of seven local actresses play over a dozen different characters, telling the story of a small Texas theatre company that is trying desperately to put on a production of Anton Chekov's The Three Sisters. Having secured hot TV star Holly Seabe (played by Anna Kirkpatrick) to star in her play, producer Kate (Kat Sloan) has gone to New York to find the rest of her cast. But Holly fires directors as fast as Kate hires them, and the theatre company finds themselves in hot water with their tobacco company funders. The story is theatrical, but the themes of insecurity, following one's dreams, and trying to balance art and life, are universal.
Anton in Show Business runs October 20- Nov 5, running Thursdays to Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $20, with two Thursday shows at $10. Tickets are available at www.openingnitetheatre.com, or at the door. Opening Nite Theatre is at 33223 Railway Ave in Mission. A Grief Support Group facilitated by the Mission Hospice Society.
This support group welcomes those who are currently navigating the profound loss of a family member, friend, relative, or significant other. Over the course of eight sessions our program will closely follow the insightful chapters of the book Understanding Your Grief: Ten Essential Touchstones for Finding Hope and Healing Your Heart. During these sessions, participants will gain an understanding of grief, all while honouring the distinctiveness of each individual's grieving process. In a safe and caring environment participants will gain tools designed to guide them forward on their path of grieving. Moreover, they will receive compassionate assistance in reconciling with the significant social, emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects inherent in the grieving journey. By sharing their stories and emotions with others, attendees will discover a sense of normalcy in the midst of the unfamiliar emotional terrain of grief. This shared experience paves the way for renewed hope and a transformative process of healing. All participants will receive a free copy of the book Understanding Your Grief: Ten Essential Touchstones for Finding Hope and Healing Your Heart, written by Alan D Wolfelt PhD. Group sessions will run Wednesdays, October 18 – December 6, 2023, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Mission Hospice House located at 32180 Hillcrest Ave. For more information and to register, please contact Lori Veres, Grief Coordinator at 604-826-2235 or grief@missionhospice.bc.ca. www.MissionHospice.bc.ca |
