Not that that's a big deal, but it is when people think differently of someone who has disabilities. Many, like myself, have exceptional talents, that can be shown off in our own ways. Writing and Painting are mine. -Mya Rusch With her fifth book released on May 15, Mya Rusch is local writer who has been writing stories since she could write a sentence. She fell in love with writing at a very young age and has not put down her pen since. This 33 year old keeps herself busy as an artist and writer. Her love of animals - she three cats, two dogs, and two horses - naturally led her to pursue and recently complete her Veterinary Assistant program.
At a young age, Mya was diagnosed with ADHD and at around 18, she was confirmed to be on the Autism spectrum. She realized her exceptional talents and focussed on her writing and painting. In the meantime, she also made it to Nationals with her Special Olympics 5-Pin Bowling team. And in the Spring of 2021, she bought a wild horse which she learned to train from ground zero. She had never done it before and both Mya and Joey, her horse, have come a long way. It has taken Mya almost twenty years and many re-writes before she published her first book. She is grateful for the love and support of friends and her husband. She hopes that in the crazy world we live in, her stories will take readers to a supernatural place that will not only captivate her audience but make their 'real world' seem a little better. Her first book, Decisions, is about a set of quadruplets who are all wolf shapeshifters. Humans aren't aware of the supernatural world and that doesn't sit well with one of the siblings who goes rogue to try to change the fate of the supernaturals. The fantasy-romance series, Inner Desires Book, is chronological, with a total of 10 books (so far). Due to some steamy scenes, her books are meant for a 14+ audience. The stories generally take place around Mission, BC. Heritage Park is the main setting in her first and third books. You will have to buy and read the second book to see which local, harbour pub is a meeting place for its characters. She believes that "readers will have a connection with many of her characters in one way or another." You can find Mya's books at Amazon.ca and at Totally BOOK-ish at The Junction. Some of her titles are available as audio books as well. Her newest novel Nightfall is set to be released on May 15th. More details are available at www.mya-rusch.com |
