****************************** The English Tart 33134 1 Ave (604) 289-2253 www.theenglishtart.ca ***************************** It’s that lovely time of year again when we have the pleasure to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of our community's many great young people. While I believe we should recognize youth achievements throughout the year, grad season is a particularly ideal time to acknowledge these accomplishments as a new group of young people transitions to the next journey in their lives. As a young entrepreneur myself, I take particular interest in and have respect for these accomplishments.
Fashion is a dynamic concept, it varies depending on who you ask, where you are, and when you ask it. It changes constantly, (which makes it so much more interesting), and more often than not, young people are pioneering this change. What I find to be particularly great about this is that young people (especially so with my generation) are much less interested in following the status quo and much more interested in establishing their own identities. Clothing plays a major role in this naturally, and for many occasions, it is much more important to consider “what do you want to wear?” than it is “what am I supposed to wear?”. Certain occasions require a certain “type” of dress, but it’s important not to forget the fundamental idea that fashion and clothing are celebrations of personal identity and self-expression. So, what do you wear for your prom? Truthfully, whatever you want to wear. We’re happy to help expand your ideas for you, help you put some cohesive outfits together if you’ve got a vision, or even help walk you through finding something that is uniquely you. It could be a suit, it could be a fun jacket with cool shoes, it could be just a really interesting tie, the world is your oyster here. Take this event and this time for what it is, a time for celebration, a time for reflection and personal expression, and a step forward. As always, I wish you all the very best, congratulations on your many great accomplishments. I will see you all very soon! Sincerely, Lucas Cameron James McKinnon Thanks to your incredible support of the community, this event raised $25,000 for St. Joseph's Food Bank! Thank you to all the many volunteers, sponsors, and organizers Satti Grewal, Meena Saggu, and Kerm Gill for bringing the first Annual Mission Bollywood Boom event to Mission
