This weekend will be one to remember for over 100 skaters from around the province as they skated and learned with figure skaters Elvis Stojko and Gladys Orozco at the Mission Leisure Centre.
Currently starring in “Stars On Ice”, Elvis is one of Canada’s most successful male skaters. 2x Olympic silver medalist and 3x World champion, he is known for his jumping prowess, becoming the first skater to ever land a quad jump in combination. Gladys, at 12 years old, became the youngest competitor on the Mexican National Team. She represented Mexico internationally, competing at several Four Continent Championships, and the World Figure Skating Championships. Gladys has performed all over the world with “Disney On Ice”. The rain held off for this weekend's Walk for Mission Hospice Society. On Sunday, over a hundred walkers participated, raising more than $13,000 in memory of loved ones and to support Hospice's free programs and services for the community.
It was a busy Culture Days weekend with 6 different venues participating in the Mission Arts Council's "Arts Alive" event all throughout Mission.
