![]() The Abbotsford Arts Council is pleased to announce the return of our community favourite fundraiser, The Anonymous Art Show which opens this Saturday November 4th, 2023. This show will be hosted both in person and online on the Abbotsford Arts Council website: abbotsfordartscouncil.com Opening reception will be held on November 4th from 12-2pm at the Kariton Gallery. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Doors open at 11am for early bird viewing. In person sales start at 12pm and online sales will open at 3pm. About the show: The Anonymous Art Show showcases art that is submitted anonymously by members of the community – from emerging artists to seasoned professionals – to be featured and sold in an exhibition in support of the arts. The show enables the community to support emerging artists and gives the buyer an opportunity to take home an artist’s original work at an affordable price! How much do the paintings cost? Each piece displayed in the show is on a 12”x 12”x 1.5″ canvas* and will be sold at $100 each. Fifty percent of the proceeds go right to the artist, and the remaining fifty percent stays with the Abbotsford Arts Council to help us support the arts (and those who create it) and fund valuable programs like free community events, exhibition space, arts initiatives and much more! *Due to a local shortage of canvases in the correct size, some works may be on canvases of a shallower depth, but all are 12″×12″. When will the artists names be revealed? When a piece is purchased, the work will be marked as sold and the artist’s name displayed. The Abbotsford Arts Council will announce each participating artist on Instagram @karitonartgallery as their work is sold. When can I pick up my painting after purchasing? Purchased paintings can be taken home immediately (we will endeavour to add more paintings as pieces are sold) or picked up from the Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware Street, Abbotsford) during opening hours. For additional information, please contact the Abbotsford Arts Council by email at [email protected], or visit our website at abbotsfordartscouncil.com. ![]() Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF) Grand Gala is approaching fast and we don’t want you to miss out on your chance to join us under the Big Top at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Centre in Abbotsford on Friday November 17th, 2023. “We are super excited to be hosting our Grand Gala in Abbotsford this year” said Liz Harris, Executive Director of FVHCF. “With Vintage Carnival theme, this years event will be full of entertainment, carnival games, popcorn, caramel apples from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and so much more.” Big shout out to our Presenting Sponsor, Snowcrest Foods, for their continued support of our Grand Gala. "We're very excited about the upcoming year of theatre," explains Artistic Director, Ken Hildebrandt. Each play in our season touches on one of these important communal experiences, exploring its ups and downs in meaningful, entertaining and thought-provoking ways." The season line-up includes the following:
"Live theatre at Gallery 7 Theatre is about the community coming together to engage with stories that not only entertain, but stir the heart, challenge the mind and elevate the soul," concludes Hildebrandt. "This season is as much a showcase of compelling and impactful stories about community as it is a celebration of the important role theatre plays in our community. Come one, come all!" It’s that time of year, again, where the Mission Community Services Society look forward to assisting those who need a little extra help at Christmas.
Their Christmas Bureau – Wish Campaign makes a difference to low-income single adults, seniors and families who find it difficult to make ends meet, especially at this time of year. Mission Community Services Society, along with the members of our community, have been providing these vulnerable people and families with festive food hampers and toys at Christmas since 1972. Their objective is to raise $160,000 which will not only assist in providing Christmas hampers and toys, but also helps to operate our emergency Food Centre throughout the year. With the support from people such as yourself we can once again provide toys for over 726 kids, and over 587 Christmas food hampers to families and seniors in time for Christmas. Will you help us make a difference this year? There are three ways of contributing to the “Wish Campaign” over the coming weeks.
Nov 2nd – Dec 15th, 2023, at the Junction Shopping Centre Unit 141 - 32555 London Ave, Mission. *Tax receipt issued for donations over $25.00.
