The Harrison Festival Society will be hosting the return of excellent Newfoundland-based folk quartet, Rum Ragged, on Friday, March 21st in Harrison Memorial Hall. 

2021 JUNO Award Nominees, Rum Ragged, take a bold approach to the distinct folk music of their Newfoundland home. With a reverence for their roots and a creative, contemporary edge, this young band has quickly become known as the finest performers of their great, living, musical tradition. Boasting bouzouki, fiddle, bodhran, banjo, guitar, and button accordion, these new champions of East Coast music enliven and enlighten audiences with their signature brand of Newfoundland folk. Always honest, thought-provoking, and often humorous, it’s Rum Ragged’s live show that makes them a fast favourite with any audience. Their combination of striking vocal harmonies, staggering musicianship, and captivating storytelling gives concert-goers an experience they won’t soon forget. Fans of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are in for a treat as The Wildflowers, the internationally touring tribute band, brings their high-energy, authentic performance to Clarke Theatre on March 29th at 7:30pm.

“Who doesn’t love Tom Petty?” bassist Darryell Stone asked himself one day in 2012 while listening to the radio. The only answer he could imagine? “Nobody.” Testing his theory, he polled friends, family, and fellow musicians—each response confirmed what he already knew: everyone loves Tom Petty.

One of those musicians was guitarist and lead vocalist Jonathan Guthrie, a lifelong Petty fan and an uncanny lookalike. Fueled by their shared admiration, Stone and Guthrie set out to recreate the legendary sound of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers with precision, passion, and authenticity.

Joining them were drummer Steve Lucas (formerly of Feverdog and Theatrix), multi-instrumentalist Glenn Freeman(keyboards, harmonica, guitar, and backing vocals), and lead guitarist Curt Granger, a veteran of Birmingham’s music scene and renowned boutique guitar amplifier designer.
