Fans of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are in for a treat as The Wildflowers, the internationally touring tribute band, brings their high-energy, authentic performance to Clarke Theatre on March 29th at 7:30pm.
“Who doesn’t love Tom Petty?” bassist Darryell Stone asked himself one day in 2012 while listening to the radio. The only answer he could imagine? “Nobody.” Testing his theory, he polled friends, family, and fellow musicians—each response confirmed what he already knew: everyone loves Tom Petty. One of those musicians was guitarist and lead vocalist Jonathan Guthrie, a lifelong Petty fan and an uncanny lookalike. Fueled by their shared admiration, Stone and Guthrie set out to recreate the legendary sound of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers with precision, passion, and authenticity. Joining them were drummer Steve Lucas (formerly of Feverdog and Theatrix), multi-instrumentalist Glenn Freeman(keyboards, harmonica, guitar, and backing vocals), and lead guitarist Curt Granger, a veteran of Birmingham’s music scene and renowned boutique guitar amplifier designer. With meticulous attention to detail, The Wildflowers deliver an unforgettable live experience, capturing the spirit, energy, and signature sound of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. From classic hits to deep cuts, every note is performed with reverence and authenticity, ensuring a nostalgic and electrifying night for fans.
