The Dunsmuir Neighbourhood Association is bringing people from different backgrounds together to celebrate at their annual block party. The goal is to foster a sense of inclusivity and togetherness among the community. The event is in line with the City of Mission Community Wellness Strategies #13 and #14, which aim to encourage community relationship building and civic engagement. The well-being of the community is a top priority, and the organizers firmly believe that everyone should be included. The block party will feature a variety of free activities, including art workshops, live music, Henna artistry, lawn games, and board games. Attendees will be provided with hot dogs, fruits, and popcorn. Local businesses, community associations, and organizations such as Union Mission Gospel, Mission Community Service Society, and others will be on site. Additional features of the block party include face painting, a kid vendor booth, and neighbourhood craft vendors. There will also be a 50/50 draw and a free attendance raffle. Attendees are encouraged to bring used clothing and dry food donations to donate to charity if they can. With the prevalence of virtual connections in today's world, promoting in-person gatherings and social interactions is crucial. Free events that provide leisure activities and opportunities for human connection are an effective way to achieve this goal. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate; those who are interested in being a vendor or bringing their association and having a booth are encouraged to let the organizers know.
