FUJIKAWA GARDEN CELEBRATION // After 10 years of dedication, the Fujikawa Memorial Garden has finally come to life! What started as a small step—a donation to plant a tree—has grown into a beautiful community project, now sitting on what once was a family strawberry farm of hope.
The Fujikawa Memorial Garden honours the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and mother of the Fujikawa family, who settled in Silverdale around 1900. Despite the hardships, their legacy lives on in this beautiful garden, a testament to resilience and community spirit, a tribute to Silverdale’s multicultural heritage, and a gift to the community. This project wouldn't have been possible without the support from local government, Japanese Canadian Legacies Society, community members, friends, family, and the children who planted strawberries!
