TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE AN IMPACT!
Every year, Mission Community Services hosts special fundraising events that support our work serving the community. This year we are excited to share with you our upcoming fundraiser, the first of its kind in Mission. We will be providing 10 community members with an immersive experience of homelessness. They will experience something that most of us, hopefully, will never have to live, as a way to raise awareness and funds for the new community Medical Mobile Unit (MMU). By taking up the challenge of spending 24 hours un-housed participants are demonstrating their commitment to making a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable. The ongoing need to find shelter, safety, and food becomes a priority and often supersedes the need for health care. Most acute care for this population is provided in the emergency department, which is more expensive and more fragmented than regular care provided by a primary provider. HOW YOUR FUNDING HELPS! The funds raised from 24-hour un-housed will go towards keeping Mission’s new community Medical Mobile Unit– “MISSION IN MOTION” on the road to serve our community’s marginalized Individuals. The MMU with be equipped with medical supplies, a nurse practitioner-physician collaborative to offer basic medical care and social support to the un-housed, vulnerable Seniors, Youth and new Canadians to Mission. Our overall goal is to help solve homelessness, raise awareness, support emergency services, and attain funding for the community Medical Mobile Unit (MMU). Each participant will be collecting funds for the 24 Hr. Homeless fundraiser through a pledge drive, with the goal of raising $25,000. Continued support from the community will be essential in ensuring a positive campaign. We can’t do it without your help! DONATIONS PLEDGES ARE BEING ACCEPTED BY: 1.
