Suiting up for Weddings. Spring is springing, and with the change in weather, we see plenty of couples approaching their big day. There is a huge amount of planning that goes into weddings, and while we won’t pretend to be experts on napkin folding techniques, we are experts when it comes to getting dressed. Here are some tips for tasteful and timeless wedding attire.
Coordinating Colours Colour is often the top priority number one for many couples, typically because weddings have a cohesive aesthetic and the clothes need to match the, for lack of a better term, “vibe”. The big piece of advice here is not to overthink it. Colours don’t need to match 100% of the time, they just need to photograph well together. Outside of that, the world is your oyster. We’re happy to integrate your existing aesthetics into your suits. It’s all about having a fit While priority number one for most couples is colour, our top priority is ensuring your clothes fit you properly. There is a huge difference between an untailored garment and a tailored one, even if we’re just making sure your sleeves are the correct length. Tailoring in men’s wear is designed to accentuate your best features, and the suit is a flattering garment to begin with. The big trend this year is a movement away from slim and skinny-fitting pants back to a more timeless straight or slim straight leg. This creates a lovely silhouette that brings the attention back to your face and away from your shoes. Accessory Considerations
This is just the tip of the iceberg, of course. If you’re having trouble getting started, come see us! No appointments are needed, and our doors are always open. We recommend a four-month window for dressing a full wedding party - so the time is now! See you soon, and congratulations on your wedding! Lucas & Lavi The Mission Community Foundation held its Annual Scholarship and Bursary Awards Ceremony on May 22, 2025, at the Clarke Theatre. A total of $255,000 in scholarships and bursaries was awarded to Grade 12 students and adult post-secondary learners—the highest amount distributed by the Foundation to date.
Awards were presented to students entering a wide range of academic and vocational fields. Recipients were selected based on various criteria, including academic performance, financial need, and community involvement. The evening also included the presentation of the G.W. Cooke Awards. The George Willoughby Cooke Awards Fund was established in 1992 by Bill and Shirley Walker of Mission and is managed by the Mission Community Foundation. Its purpose is to recognize students in Grades 7, 8 and 9 from our school district for achievement in Math and Science. Recognition medallions and certificates are provided to the recipients. Scholarships, bursaries, and academic awards were made possible through contributions from individual donors, families, businesses, and community groups. The funds support students from the Mission area in pursuing education at various levels. The Mission Community Foundation has administered scholarship and bursary programs for local students since its establishment. The annual awards ceremony is held to recognize recipients and acknowledge the support of donors. Additional information about the Foundation, including how to apply for awards or contribute to scholarship funds, is available at www.missioncommunityfoundation.org. ![]() TEDxMission is proud to announce its inaugural event, TEDxMission 2025, scheduled for Saturday, June 21 from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) Mission Campus, located at 33700 Prentis Ave. Doors open at 5:00 PM.
