![]() The Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Dunsmuir Urban Community Garden (DUC Garden) on October 26th, 2024, from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. This event marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Dunsmuir Neighborhood, as the community comes together to celebrate the launch of this innovative urban agricultural initiative. The city has given the green light to the Dunsmuir Neighbourhood Association (DNA), a local nonprofit, to transform the vacant lot between 33525 and 33543 Ninth Avenue into a vibrant urban community garden and meeting place. The DNA is always seeking to follow the Mission Health and Wellness Strategy dedicated to advocating for causes such as food security, hidden poverty and community building, as well preservation of the wetlands in their neighbourhood. The changes on Ninth Avenue will create an energetic community space where residents can socialize, grow crops, and become more self-sufficient. The Dunsmuir Urban Community Garden (DUC Garden) will be run by a core team of experts and volunteers and include collaboration between residents and organizations across Mission, Hatzic, Durieu, Miracle Valley, Deroche, and Dewdney. A huge thank you goes to The City of Mission, Envision Financial, First West Foundation, Mission Community Skills Center, Rona Fraser Valley Building Supplies, Arnold’s Equipment Rentals, Taylor, Tait, Ruley & Company, Tim Horton Junction, Mission City Pizza and Ecole Des Deux-Rives for contributing towards this project which is aimed at nurturing community spirit and strengthening food security in Mission.
