BC band Gary Comeau and the Voodoo Allstars to bring the vibe of the crescent city to Memorial Hall The Harrison Festival Society will be continuing their 2024/25 Season of the Performing Arts with a show by Vancouver’s own Gary Comeau and the Voodoo Allstars at the Harrison Memorial Hall, on Saturday October 26.
Gary Comeau is no stranger to Harrison, having been a festival favorite over the years at the Harrison Festival of the Arts. Gary Comeau and the Voodoo Allstars possess a unique and original flair that lays out a soundscape of jazz, roots, Latin and blues music from the culturally rich history of New Orleans. From the jazz influence of Louis Armstrong, the New Orleans piano sounds of Professor Longhair, Fats Domino, Dr. John & Allen Toussaint, to the funky sounds of the Neville Brothers, Gary weaves his own musical gumbo style. Gary sings and plays piano and fiddle, and is joined by one of Vancouver’s finest and grooviest rhythm sections. This is music that folks love to dance to, and is the sound of celebration – as they say in New Orleans, laissez les bons temps rouler! The show begins at 7:30pm with doors opening at 6:30pm. Tickets for Gary Comeau and the Voodoo Allstars can be purchased online at www.harrisonfestival.com, by phone at 604.796.3664 or in person at the Ranger Station Art Gallery in Harrison Hot Springs. ![]() The Mission Folk Music Festival Society is thrilled to announce an intimate evening of folk-roots music with acclaimed singer-songwriter Julian Taylor. We provide safe and compassionate shelter to stray, surrendered, and abandoned cats in our community. Our cats receive veterinary care (including spay/neuter, vaccinations, and microchip identification), rehabilitation, quality food, and lots of love while they wait to be adopted into forever, caring homes. We also offer a community pet food bank and low-income spay/neuter program. It's kitten fever! A huge colony of mama cats and kittens were rescued before the paint even dried in our new location. Food and litter were flying off the shelves (and floor and walls!) and all 40 kitties needed to be spayed/neutered. One mama was already pregnant with her next litter of five, and two other litters were ready for their spay/neuter. The food and vet bills for these kitties and the existing cats in shelter and foster are crazy! Help us keep our shelter open to the community and support our mission to provide these cats with the best possible care by purchasing your 50/50 tickets today OCTOBER 25
