Dust off the sneakers and get ready to join Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF) on February 25, 2024 at Abbotsford Centre for the 7th annual Step Up 4 Cardiac Health presented by Ecotex Healthcare Linen Service.
Challenge your friends, family or co-workers to see who can do the most steps or raise the most money. We have prizing for Most Laps by a female and male, Top Fundraiser, Most laps by a youth and Best Costume. “No matter how fast or slow your go, how many steps you take or laps you do, you are still lapping everyone sitting on the couch.” Author unknown FVHCF raised over $34,000 in 2023 and hoping to push it over $50,000 in 2024. Funds raised at this years Step Up 4 Cardiac Health will help support the Cardiac Care Unit at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. The Foundation serves the communities of Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Hope, Agassiz and Harrison Hot Springs. The objective of this series is to further develop an inclusive and diverse Downtown by engaging in sensitive topics that may be difficult for some to navigate in a professional setting. This series aims to destigmatize uncomfortable conversations, provide standard messaging for owners and allow guests to ask questions in a safe space. It will be an educational series with the main objective to break down social and cultural barriers to create an inclusive downtown environment.
Each session runs from 2-4pm at Copper Hall. FREE for DBA Members. $5 at the door for the public. Coffee, tea and pastries will be served. RSVP to [email protected] January 18 - Digital Marketing 101 with DBA February 15 - Understanding Inclusivity & Diversity March 14 - Cultural Appreciation with the Mission Friendship Centre April 18 - Safety & Security in Mission with the Crime Prevention Office May 16 - The State of the Economy with Odium Brown and Dr. Kevin Wainwright, Ph.D By Mission Parks, Recreation and Culture Mission Parks, Recreation and Culture in partnership with the Mission Museum is hosting a digital art installation at the Mission Leisure Centre this January and February called My Favourite Object. My Favourite Object aims to give people an opportunity to share through reflecting on their favourite objects and hopefully build some connections and community in the process!
Think of it as a community-wide icebreaker, a fun way for us to get to know our neighbours. It's super simple to participate - snap a photo of your favourite object, create a brief 20 word write up with your first name and age ("adult" or "kid" is fine too) and send them to [email protected] or respond in this thread - we can add these images and write ups to our display too. And if you're really keen and want to take some leadership on this - share and spread the word! Ask the question at your next staff meeting, fitness class or family messenger chat. Maybe even a church wants to ask the question in their weekly news update? Let's get people talking! We have several focuses over the next 2 months, our first focus is generic - what is your favourite object? Our second focus is for the kids and youth in our community - show and tell us about your favourite object? And our third falls in line with Family Day and Heritage week - what object would you be found in your family museum? There is more info on our website, www.mission.ca/my-favourite-object but I'd say this really sums it up! What's your favourite object? With the kiddos heading back to school, time for you to get into a routine that's good for you, make new friends, and have fun. Classes are open for all fitness levels! Sign up at www.beifitness.com
This exhibit runs until January 20th at the Mission Arts Centre, 33529 1 Ave, Tues-Sat 12 - 4pm. Check out all the beautiful pieces from local emerging artists. www.missionartscouncil.com
